Alphabet and Pattern Books
Alphabet books were used to train new individuals in scribe notation and the scribes’ roles were to write books and perform administrative/secretarial duties. The scribe is important in the creation and production of books across different regions because books represented the wealth, economic prosperity, and the overall state of the country. The pattern book is a book that an artist records their own or others’ designs including guidelines to offer more information about the design, color, or composition. These manuscript were designed to provide instructions and acts as a guide in the process.
