Identifies the unique issues affecting African American students at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Includes interviews with students, staff and faculty. At start of tape: "An Ancestors Production". Speakers are: Paula Powell, African American Student Life and Resource Center (AASLRC) Director; Dr. Robert Bartee, UCSC Counseling Psychologist; Professor John Brown Childs, UCSC Sociology Department; as well as students: James Gatewood, Isha Seales, Phron McElroy, Lauren Cole, Kwasi Adae, and Rameen Gasery.
