The markers were replicas cast from the mold of an original California Mission bell.\r\n\r\nBy the mid-60's, most had been stolen. Several other women's groups removed the remaining markers and donated them to various organizations around the state. Historians have been unable to determine the name of the local group that made the UCSC donation.\r\n\r\nCalTrans took over responsibility for the markers along the highway at the beginning of Jerry Brown's first term as governor in the mid-70's, installing new ones that were first made of concrete and later cast metal.\r\n\r\nNative American tribes comprised of some of the descendents who lived in the area and UC officials discussed removal of the marker for more than a year. \r\n\r\nThe future of the marker has not been determined. It may be melted down to make a permanent memorial plaque or donated to a museum.\r\n\r\nFor further information on the Catholic Church's beatification and later sainthood for Father Junipero Serra, and the Native American opposition to glorification of Serra and the California Mission system, see \"Serra's Miracle Nun\": https://youtu.be/aRBSc7mL6cU"]]]],["element",{"elementId":"40"},["name","Date"],["description","A point or period of time associated with an event in the lifecycle of the resource"],["elementTextContainer",["elementText",{"elementTextId":"36123"},["text","2019-06-24T02:54:31.000Z"]]]],["element",{"elementId":"48"},["name","Source"],["description","A related resource from which the described resource is derived"],["elementTextContainer",["elementText",{"elementTextId":"36124"},["text","http://youtu.be/7uvi8h2wVsM"]]]],["element",{"elementId":"47"},["name","Rights"],["description","Information about rights held in and over the resource"],["elementTextContainer",["elementText",{"elementTextId":"36125"},["text","Standard YouTube License"]]]],["element",{"elementId":"45"},["name","Publisher"],["description","An entity responsible for making the resource available"],["elementTextContainer",["elementText",{"elementTextId":"36126"},["text","Tony Russomanno
