Raymond Dasmann was a Professor of Environmental Studies at UC Santa Cruz from 1977 to 1989. In his teaching and writing, he was committed to the conservation of plants, animals, and ecosystems in California, where he grew up and earned his college and graduate degrees at UC Berkeley.
